how to add a external HDD to the ps3 you can then use it to backup the ps3 the vid is very basic but I think it does the job hope it helps anyone who is trying to use a external hdd with the ps3

Hey man, I just wanna say thanks. I’ve had the YLOD many times. And i finally said “eff it” and bought an external HD to backup the data for when she finally dies…and i was really scared when i had first plugged it in to the ps3 and it didn’t show up. So thank you again!!!
plz reply. i installed the yellow dog linux on my ps3 and it stopped at the boot n now i tried to get it off but it won’t work, so i went to a store and got it formatted but he formatted it to a NTFS but its not working n the ps3 is asking for an update 2.5 i think and i went to a friend’s house and n got his backup files and tried it but it still don’t work so i’m lost n i need my baby back

Thanks so much i messed up my hard drive using some other idiots guide and it took me 12 hours to format it but i bought a 1 terabyte hard drive for my ps3 and
now its working thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if using Swiss knife or Easus Partition Manage isn’t working for you guys or your having problems with them trying to split larger drives OR you want something SUPER FAST (under a min) i have a better and MUCH faster way click on my name it is my most recent video

take out your HD from your ps3 put it in someone elses, plug in an external HD, go to system settings on ps3, click backup utility, back up your data to external HD, bob’s your uncle, voila!
